If you want to take Aciclovir as a prevention measure you will be the subject of a long period of treatment, from 6 month up to 12 months. Daily treatment will contain 4 administrations of 200mg Aciclovir, at an interval of 4 hours between administrations. 

The recommended treatment of shingles is a 7 day treatment with one tablet of 800mg Aciclovir, 5 times a day. Keep a 4 hour interval between administrations. 

What are the side effects of Aciclovir?
